How to remain rulers?

(From my poetry Collection 'Signatures')
Kingship and queenship
King of the Queensland and
Queen of the Kingsland
made to sit together to make a pact;
as the people of both lands were
raising voices against kingdoms,
needing  fact and tact for the lack of  bread;
‘more loaves ,more loaves’ was their cry
King suggested, ‘Why don’t we offer?’
Queen replied, 'Today bread, tomorrow cakes,
and then  the oven and later whole wheat fields.
Would we yield to all?’
King agreed sensing sharply, asked
‘Tell me an option to make a faction
among them; so they start fighting,
forget demanding bread and cake’

Queen went thoughtful; said later
‘Declare war on my land reasoning
bread went scarce because of us;
your people would begin hating my people
hatred makes good pastime.’
And it worked.
War was declared
People of two nations
fought and many died.
None won;
They made a  truce,
Temporarily for
they grew weary
Retaining grudge,
they forgot bread.
King of the Queensland
sent roses to
the queen of the Kingsland
